According to information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, starting from January 1, 2026, new conditions will be introduced for foreigners arriving in Georgia. It is now mandatory to have a valid medical insurance policy, as well as accident insurance for the entire duration of stay.
This requirement is based on legislative initiatives by Georgia in the field of tourism and will apply to all trips, including tourist, business, and private visits.
Insurance policies can be issued by both Georgian and foreign companies. It is important that they are presented in Georgian or English in either paper or electronic format. The minimum amount of insurance coverage must be at least 30,000 Georgian Lari (GEL).
The policy must contain key information: the parties to the contract, the territory of coverage, the subject of insurance, terms, risks, the amount of compensation, the premium amount, and payment conditions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advises citizens of Kyrgyzstan planning trips to Georgia to familiarize themselves with the new rules in advance and to consider possible additional requirements from carriers and border guards. It is recommended to arrange medical insurance before departure and to carry documents in paper form, as they may be required at the border.
It is equally important to comply with immigration requirements, including the presence of a valid foreign passport, a return ticket, proof of accommodation booking, and an insurance policy.
It should be noted that this information is explanatory and does not guarantee automatic permission to enter Georgia.
