In accordance with the new regulations, standards have been established for the classification of accommodation and hospitality services under the Tourism Law. These changes are aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of tourist services that meet international standards, as well as creating opportunities for obtaining government subsidies and benefits. Additionally, this is expected to attract foreign investors to this sector.
Officials emphasized that the development of the rules took place with the active involvement of stakeholders: their proposals were considered during six roundtable discussions with representatives of the tourism industry. For public discussion, the draft was also posted on the website of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth.
According to the updated regulations, it is now possible to assign categories for a broader range of tourist activities, including hotels, resorts, and tourist complexes. Previously, the rating system was primarily focused on elite hotels and resorts. The government is confident that the new system will improve the quality and competitiveness of the tourism industry, especially in light of the target indicators for 2026.
