Mongolia's Disaster Management Plan Revised and Approved

As part of this plan, according to government representatives, there is an enhancement of coordination and management of disaster risk reduction measures at all levels of government. This will improve the readiness and effectiveness of both national and local authorities, including ministries, agencies, as well as provincial and capital authorities, and at the level of somons and districts, ensuring rapid response and recovery after disasters.

Additionally, within the framework of this plan, existing sectoral emergency action programs for various types of disasters will be reviewed and updated. The plan also includes the updating and approval of disaster management plans at the provincial, capital, and municipal levels, which aligns with the overall national plan.

One of the key reasons for revising the plan was the growing risks arising from climate change and human activities, including the increasing and intensifying epidemics, dzud, and floods observed in recent years. Authorities emphasized that the updated plan aims to minimize social and economic damage from natural, climatic, and biological threats, as well as to protect the health, lives, and livelihoods of citizens.
