The local authorities emphasized that the expert's comments only pertained to seismically hazardous areas, where it is indeed necessary to limit building heights. At the same time, the city administration clarified that this does not mean a complete ban on investment projects.
“As the client of the General Plan, the Bishkek city administration confirms that support for investment projects remains in effect,” the official statement said.
Furthermore, the city administration noted that the construction of buildings ranging from 30 to 50 stories is permitted in the capital, provided that all necessary permits from the relevant state authorities are obtained.
It was also added that the developers of the General Plan must take into account the interests of the city, as well as issues of safety and sustainable development of construction.
