Trump announced a five-day moratorium on strikes against Iranian energy facilities

In his message, Trump emphasized that "given the nature and tone of these deep, detailed, and constructive discussions," he has instructed the Department of Defense to postpone military actions against Iranian energy facilities for five days. This decision is contingent upon the successful completion of ongoing meetings.

The details of the negotiations have not been disclosed, and Tehran has not yet commented on this information.

Amid escalating tensions, on March 22, Trump demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. Otherwise, he stated, the U.S. would strike and destroy Iranian power plants. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared its readiness to completely close the Strait of Hormuz and eliminate all U.S. economic interests in the region. They also promised to attack Israeli power plants and "similar companies with American shareholders."

Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East. This route is strategically important, as it accounts for up to 20% of the world's maritime oil exports—about 20 million barrels per day—as well as liquefied natural gas. The closure of the strait has already led to a sharp spike in oil prices.
