
During the visit, high-level meetings are planned, as well as the organization of the first meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council, which will be held under the chairmanship of both leaders. The main focus of the negotiations will be on further strengthening friendly and good-neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as on developing strategic partnership and alliance.
Among the issues to be discussed are the expansion of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, interregional collaboration, the development of industrial cooperation, transport connectivity, as well as ensuring water and energy security and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
As a result of the visit, the launch of new joint projects and the signing of a number of bilateral documents aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries are expected.
Earlier, Emomali Rahmon visited Uzbekistan to participate in the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia on November 15-16, 2025. Meetings between the heads of state have been held regularly as part of various events and summits.
The last state visit of the Tajik president to Tashkent took place on March 9-10, 2018, when he visited Uzbekistan on an official visit for the first time in 17 years.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited Tajikistan on a state visit on April 18-19, 2024.
