Information about the presence of endive roots with a local resident was reported to the inspectors, and they decided to conduct a control inspection.
“According to the man, he brought the roots from Uzbekistan. During the inspection, about 850 kilograms were found, which is equivalent to approximately 30 bags. The police sealed the door of the premises where the roots were stored, and the owner was taken to the Alamedin District Department of Internal Affairs for further investigation,” the press service reports.

It is worth noting that endive roots (macrothamia) are perennial herbaceous plants from the borage family, characterized by their thick and dyeing roots. This plant is valued in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties; however, due to this, many species have become endangered.
In Kyrgyzstan, the collection of endive is currently prohibited. The moratorium on its collection will last until January 1, 2027.
