It is worth noting that the incident occurred on January 6 in the palliative care unit of the institution. As a result of the fire, two severely ill residents died. According to the Ministry of Health, another 14 people were hospitalized, but they were later discharged.
The director of the nursing home, Baktygul Zhankalieva, shared details about the deceased. She reported that one of them, O.Sh., had been admitted to the institution in September 2024 from the "Kolomto" shelter without documents. Later, his real surname was discovered, and after the tragedy, his relatives from Talas, who had been searching for him for seven years, found him. O.Sh. left behind a son and a daughter, who took the body for burial in Talas.
The other victim, V.D., was from the village of Tepke in the Ak-Suu district and suffered from alcohol dependence. After his second stroke, he became disabled and entered the nursing home in June 2019. Relatives of V.D. could not be found, and the nursing home in the village of Grozd organized the funeral.
During the meeting, the deputies emphasized the importance of providing a legal assessment of the incident, as two people died as a result.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fire, and the investigation is ongoing.
