At a briefing in Bishkek on February 13, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Azamat Mambetov reported that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan experienced 3,757 fires, resulting in the deaths of 53 people.

The total material damage from these fires amounted to 2 billion 71 million soms. Compared to the previous year, the number of incidents increased by 19%, the number of victims rose by 17%, and material losses increased by 2.5 times.

During 2025, 14 major emergencies were registered, claiming the lives of 32 people and causing damage of 60 million soms. Additionally, 4,424 emergency incidents were recorded, which is 16% more than in 2024. The damage from these incidents amounted to 2 billion 30 million soms, which is double the figures from the previous year, with fires being the main type of incident.

According to Mambetov, the increase in incidents is attributed to several factors. Firstly, there is mass urbanization: people are developing areas, including hazardous zones where construction is not recommended. Secondly, economic growth and industrial development lead to greater material losses when fires occur. In 2025, major fires most frequently occurred in markets, significantly increasing the overall damage, noted the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations.

Overall, 2025 was a challenging year in terms of emergencies. Although the number of mudflows decreased due to drought compared to the previous year, the total number of incidents significantly increased, he added.
