In Bishkek, in the Upper Jala area, on February 16, 2026, around 07:30, an accident occurred in which a young girl lost her life. According to the Bishkek City Police Department, the driver S.K., born in 1990, was driving a "KIA K5" when he hit 19-year-old F.A., who was crossing the road from east to west during a left turn.
Unfortunately, the girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning violations of traffic safety rules that resulted in a person's death. In accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the suspect has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department.
The vehicle is currently impounded and located at a specialized impound lot, and necessary examinations have been appointed.
The Bishkek City Police Department strongly urges all road users, both drivers and pedestrians, to adhere to safety rules, show respect for one another on the road, and be especially vigilant near pedestrian crossings and while making maneuvers.
