A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, related to negligence and the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, which resulted in the deaths of several individuals. Regional authorities have notified the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk about the incident.
Governor Igor Kobzev emphasized that the ice crossing to Olkhon has not yet been opened, and venturing onto the ice remains dangerous and strictly prohibited.
An investigative operational group, including investigators, police officers, and emergency services personnel, is working at the scene of the tragedy. Search operations are underway, all circumstances of the incident are being established, and witnesses and representatives of the authorities responsible for safety on water bodies are being interviewed.
