Deputy Talaybek Sarybashov raised the issue of increasing accident rates, pointing to frequent serious traffic accidents on the Bishkek—Osh highway, associated with high speeds. He inquired about what exactly is leading to the rise in the number of accidents.
Urmambetov noted that last year the number of incidents increased by approximately 50%. As a result of these incidents, around 900 people died, which is over 100 cases more than the previous year.
Previously, the main causes of accidents were poor road conditions and lack of infrastructure. However, according to Urmambetov, with the improvement of road conditions, driver behavior has started to determine the situation on the roads. In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is initiating the implementation of an automated system for recording violations and expanding the network of road cameras to enhance road safety.
