The amount returned to the victims was 73 billion 896 thousand 429 soms.
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Nurbek Abdiev presented data on cases of internet fraud for 2025.
This year, 1,147 criminal cases related to money theft via the internet were registered, of which 832 cases were successfully solved and referred to court.
The total amount of damage amounted to 826 billion 495 thousand 682 soms, however, only 73 billion 896 thousand 429 soms were managed to be returned to the victims.
Abdiev pointed out several reasons why a significant portion of the losses was not compensated. In particular, many victims do not seek help in a timely manner, allowing fraudsters to transfer the stolen funds abroad.
According to the deputy minister, people often realize that they have become victims of fraud only one or two days after transferring the money.
Fraudsters, on the other hand, withdraw the stolen money within one to two hours.
In response to these issues, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the National Bank, is implementing a so-called "cooling-off period" for online transfers.
This innovation will allow for the temporary suspension of suspicious transactions to conduct checks and, if necessary, return funds to the victims.
