Employees of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) arrested lawyer A.K.A., who previously held the position of judge, on suspicion of extorting money for assistance in obtaining favorable decisions in civil cases.
According to the agency's information, the arrest occurred at the moment when the lawyer was receiving part of the requested amount of 437,500 soms, which is approximately 5,000 US dollars.
Using his connections and status, the suspect organized an extortion scheme, offering help in securing advantageous court decisions.
It has been established that the lawyer had already received 25,000 dollars from the plaintiff. After that, he continued to insist on the payment of an additional 7,000 dollars, threatening that in case of refusal, he would use his connections to alter the court decision in favor of the opposing party.
By court decision, the suspect has been placed in the GKNB pre-trial detention center for a period of two months.
Currently, further investigations are underway to identify other possible participants in this corruption scheme.
