The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of the Kyrgyz Republic has uncovered corrupt practices in the educational system of Naryn. According to the press service of the agency, representatives of the city education department illegally collected money from the directors of subordinate schools and kindergartens.
According to established facts, GORONO employees demanded from the heads of educational institutions amounts ranging from 4000 to 5000 soms each. These funds were allegedly intended for bribing an inspector from the Accounts Chamber to conceal financial violations.
As a result of searches in the offices of the suspects, 68,000 soms were found and a list of 17 educational organizations was discovered, indicating the amounts of collected money. On March 12 of this year, the head of GORONO (citizen T.U.S.) was detained, and the court decided to place him in a temporary detention facility during the investigation. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 343 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning extortion of a bribe.
