Officials caught extorting money from school directors in the city of Naryn
Employees of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) discovered extortion of money in the Naryn City Department of Education. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

During the investigation, it became known that some officials demanded amounts ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 soms from the directors of educational institutions. This money was allegedly intended for an inspector from the Accounts Chamber to conceal financial violations.

During a search in the office of one of the officials, 68,000 soms were seized, and a list of 17 educational institutions, including schools and kindergartens, was compiled, noting the transfer of funds.

On March 12, 2026, the head of the Naryn City Department of Education, T.U.S., was detained. The court decided to place him in a temporary detention facility during the investigation. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 343, Part 1 (extortion of a bribe) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The SCNS continues its work to identify other individuals involved in this corruption scheme.

An important area of work for the SCNS remains the fight against corruption in the education sector. Earlier, the agency had already reported on the detention of officials for illegal collections and manipulations with budget funds intended for the repair of schools and the purchase of equipment.
