The State Center for Registration of Vehicles and Drivers (Unaa) has undergone significant changes. It is now under the management of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan.

As reported by Kanaybek Tumanbaev, the head of the presidential administration, President Sadyr Japarov promptly held a meeting where instructions were given to improve the work of this institution.

“The current building housing Una is not up to modern standards and is rented. Therefore, a decision has been made to allocate a land plot in the near future, develop a project, and build a new building that meets all standards. Today we laid a capsule at the foundation of the future structure,” he noted.

According to Tumanbaev, the new center will be equipped with everything necessary. The process of taking exams will become more convenient and transparent, creating comfortable conditions for citizens.

“Exams will become more difficult. We will present the upcoming program by November 20. The theoretical course will increase to 384 hours, and practical training will be conducted in various weather conditions — in winter on ice, in rain, and in heat. Only after this will one be able to obtain a driver's license,” he added.

As for the exam questions, currently, about 700 questions approved in 2021 are used. However, it is planned to introduce between 2,000 and 3,000 new questions. Examiners will no longer participate in the process; assessment will be conducted by artificial intelligence. The entire system will become fully digital,” Tumanbaev emphasized.
