The deputy asked not to shave prisoners twice a week

Seid Atambaev advocated for the protection of prisoners' rights

Addressing the head of the government, Adylbek Kasymaliev, Deputy Atambaev proposed to reconsider the existing internal regulations in places of imprisonment.

According to the parliamentarian, the current norms violate the rights of prisoners. In particular, he pointed out the necessity of haircuts, which are currently conducted twice a week, resulting in prisoners having almost no hair — "to zero." He called for reducing the frequency of these procedures to create a more humane level of detention.

Additionally, Atambaev emphasized the importance of providing prisoners with necessary items for personal hygiene and cooking. He suggested providing washing facilities and stoves so that prisoners could prepare food independently, as such opportunities are currently limited.

The deputy stressed that ordinary staff at the institutions are not responsible for the existing problems, as they follow prescribed rules. Nevertheless, changing these norms could significantly improve the conditions of detention and protect the rights of prisoners.
