On the site of the landfill that had been polluting Bishkek for over fifty years, a new waste processing plant is now operational. The first phase of its operation was launched in early December of this year. Delegates from various regions who came to the Kurultai were able to familiarize themselves with the operation of this plant, which occupies almost 12 hectares.

“The waste cleaning process goes through four stages. First, nitrogen gas is treated with ammonia water, then acids are neutralized using lime. In the next stage, activated carbon removes heavy metals and unpleasant odors, and finally, the remaining particles are filtered before being released into the atmosphere,” said the plant director.
