At the "flea market" in the Chuy region, located in the Jayil district, a Soviet firefighter's helmet has become a real find for many buyers.

The seller named Alexander mentioned that this helmet was discovered while dismantling an old shed and is now offered for sale at a price of 2,000 soms.

"Perhaps this helmet will be useful to someone?" he remarked.

Local historian Maxim Podgorny shared information about the production and use of this helmet:

"This is a classic firefighter's helmet from 1950, actively used by Soviet firefighters during firefighting and rescue operations near open flames.

The helmet reliably protected the head. The "crest" on its top was designed to absorb impacts from collapsing building elements. The chin strap ensured a secure fit of the helmet. On the front side, there is a relief cockade, which is the original emblem of the Soviet fire brigades. Such helmets were usually painted green or in camouflage colors. Since 1973, the USSR began producing helmets made of polycarbonate, which turned out to be lighter and stronger than their steel predecessors," he added.

Maxim also mentioned that currently, durable helmets made from synthetic materials are in use.
