The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the importance of dialogue and the protection of civil interests
Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev commented on the Western sanctions imposed and the changes in the immigration policy of the United States. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan continues to cooperate with key partners in accordance with national legislation and proposed conducting an independent audit to monitor compliance with the sanctions regimes. The sanctions imposed by Western countries were characterized by the minister as not entirely justified from an economic and legal standpoint.
Regarding the new US immigration rules, Kulubaev noted that deportations would only affect those who have been in the country for an extended period without a visa and necessary documents, while legally residing foreigners are not subject to this. He also pointed out the excessively high amounts for visa bonds, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, which is a significant burden for the citizens of Kyrgyzstan, and added that discussions on this issue with the American side are ongoing.
