According to the press service of the State Committee for National Security, inspector K. A. A. was detained in mid-January 2024 while receiving a bribe of 500,000 soms.
According to the case materials, the GKNB's Main Investigation Department initiated a re-examination of compliance with tax legislation by the alcohol plant, which was assigned to the GNS under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The re-examination was entrusted to chief inspector K. A. A., who conducted it from December 12 to December 26, 2024, and prepared the corresponding report. As a result of the inspection, an additional charge of 1,325,288,805 soms was imposed.
However, K. A. A. began to obstruct the completion of the inspection and the transfer of results to the GKNB, realizing that the materials of his inspection could be used against the founders of the alcohol plant, who were already under investigation.
On January 14, 2025, according to the investigation, a representative of the plant met with K. A. A. at the central office of the GNS to obtain the signed report. During the meeting, the inspector began to openly extort 1.4 million soms, then reduced the amount to 500,000 soms for signing the document.
On the same day, in the parking lot of one of the supermarkets, GKNB officers detained K. A. A. after he received part of the bribe. During the search, the inspector voluntarily handed over the money he received.
The senior prosecutor of the Bishkek prosecutor's office, in a cassation appeal, requested to change the qualification of the convict's actions to "extortion of a bribe in a particularly large amount" and to impose a sentence of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The lawyer representing the convict's interests insisted on the cancellation of the sentences of both instances, claiming that the charges were not substantiated during the trial.
