“This is the heart of the city, where Stalinist houses and other historical structures are located. Are we really heading towards their destruction?” — expressed her doubts Kozhokulova.
In response, the Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Nurdana Oruntaev stated that buildings in the style of "Stalinist architecture" have already exhausted their operational capabilities and are in an emergency state.
“We take technical standards into account. These buildings were built for a lifespan of 50 years, but many of them have already stood for over a hundred years,” — he added.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev confirmed that public opinion will be considered when planning construction in the central part of Bishkek.
“We will definitely take into account the technical condition of existing buildings. Our task is to preserve the historical and cultural appearance of the capital's center. This important remark will be taken into consideration, but nevertheless, we will proceed from the condition of these structures. We have also discussed the renovation law, which is part of the modernization of urban infrastructure. The opinions of specialists will be taken into account, and the historical center will remain in the general plan project,” — he emphasized.
Gula Kozhokulova also noted the importance of preserving the historical and architectural appearance of the capital, urging the authorities to consider this aspect in the construction process. She mentioned that in other world capitals there are "old" and "new" districts, and suggested following this principle in Bishkek.
