In 2023, the 23-year-old athlete won a bronze medal at the Asian Championship held in Astana. The following year, Aoyagi became a silver medalist at the World Championship in Albania and took second place at the tournament in Bishkek.
In 2025, he achieved significant success by winning a gold medal in the 70 kg weight category at the World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia. In the 1/8 finals of that tournament, the Japanese wrestler defeated Kyrgyzstani Ernazhar Akmataliev.
Additionally, on February 13, Aoyagi will participate in an international tournament that will also take place in Bishkek.
