The President proposed to Japan to jointly forecast natural threats

The speech of President Sadyr Japarov at the First Dialogue Summit "Central Asia – Japan"

In his address, he emphasized that Kyrgyzstan supports Japan's initiative to focus on three main areas: environmental sustainability and sustainable development, development of communications, and human resources.

The President highlighted that climate change and sustainable development pose serious challenges for the country, given its mountainous terrain. The melting of glaciers, depletion of water resources, increasing mudflows, and seismic activity represent an immediate threat to the population and infrastructure.

In this regard, Japarov proposed to create a regional early warning system jointly with Japan and establish data exchange for effective forecasting of natural disasters.

According to the president's press service, the head of state noted Kyrgyzstan's commitment to a "green" economy, renewable energy sources, and clean technologies, highlighting the "Kambar-Ata–1" hydropower plant as a key strategic project. He also expressed interest in transferring Japanese "green" technologies and new mechanisms for financing environmental initiatives.

Furthermore, the president reminded about the UN initiative regarding the Decade of Action for Mountain Development from 2023 to 2027 and invited international partners to participate in the Second Global Mountain Summit, which will be held in Bishkek.
