Shestopal Viktor Arnoldovich
Sculptor. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Laureate of the Toktogul State Prize. Born on October 1, 1936, in the city of Petropavlovsk, Kazakh SSR. In 1956, he graduated from the sculpture department of the Odessa Art School, and in 1965 - from the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute named after A.N. Ostrovsky.
Since 1970, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
He works in the field of easel and monumental sculpture. He has created thematic compositions, a cycle of portraits of contemporaries, and monumental art pieces. The artist's creative achievements are determined by a close study of nature, the inner world and character of a person, and an interest in various sculptural materials (stone, wood, metal, ceramics). He has created an entire gallery of portraits of remarkable people from Kyrgyzstan.
In monumental sculpture, a notable achievement of the artist is the monument to the soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War, installed in the city of Tokmak, and the monument to A.S. Pushkin, located in the center of the capital near the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, which fits well into the urban environment. In collaboration with T. Gertsen and V. Dimov, he created thematic reliefs and a monumental portrait of V.I. Lenin at the Kirov Reservoir.
Participant in republican, all-union, and international exhibitions.
Works by Shestopal are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev.
