Prose Writer Arli Arbudu
Prose writer A. Arbudu was born in the village of Aleksandrovka, Moscow District, Kyrgyz SSR, in a family of a poor peasant. He was a Dungan Soviet writer. In 1933, he graduated from Aleksandrovka Primary School and studied at the Dungan department of the Frunze Pedagogical Technical School.
In 1935, he entered the Almaty Dungan Pedagogical School, but due to the reorganization of this educational institution, he was transferred to a Kazakh pedagogical school and graduated in 1939.
From 1946 to 1949, he studied at the Almaty Institute of Foreign Languages.
In 1941, he was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army. During the Great Patriotic War, he found himself in besieged Leningrad and endured 900 days of the blockade alongside the Leningraders.
In 1939, he was assigned as a teacher to the seven-year school named after S. M. Kirov in the Jambyl region, and from 1940 to 1941, he worked as an inspector for the Jambyl Regional Department of Education. From 1946, he served as an inspector for the Frunze Regional Department of Education and as the director of the Budyonovskaya Secondary School in the Petrovsky District. In 1950, he was assigned to the Michurin Secondary School (Ak-Suu District of the Issyk-Kul Region) as an English teacher.
In 1952, he transferred to the Milyanfan Secondary School, and in 1955, he was appointed editor of Dungan literature at Kyrghosizdat.
Since 1957, he worked as the head of the culture and everyday life department of the inter-republican Dungan newspaper "Shiy-uedi Chi".
The beginning of A. Arbudu's literary activity dates back to the mid-1950s, when the publication of Dungan literature, interrupted by the war, was resumed. The novella "Dreams of a Girl" was published in Dungan in 1958. He translated works by L. N. Tolstoy, A. P. Chekhov, A. I. Kuprin, and several Kyrgyz writers into Dungan.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1967 and a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1962.
He was awarded medals for bravery, for the defense of Leningrad, for victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, for honorable labor in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of V. I. Lenin's birth, and for the 30th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, as well as certificates of honor from the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.
A secondary school No. 2 in the village of Aleksandrovka, Moscow District, Kyrgyz SSR, is named after A. Arbudu.
