On February 17, public hearings of the eco-council were held at the eco-technological plant in Bishkek, dedicated to issues of improving air quality in the city.

The event was attended by the mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliev, representatives of the city hall, deputies of the Bishkek city council, and activists.

The mayor noted that last year at the eco-council, the task of increasing the number of trees planted was announced. Initially, it was planned to plant 15,000 trees, but later this figure was increased to 18,000.

“We also planted trees on the grounds of educational institutions, including all schools in the city. This year, we intend to increase the number of trees planted to 50,000. Contracts have already been signed. Seedlings will be delivered in mid-February and placed in nurseries for adaptation, after which they will be planted throughout the city,” Junushaliev reported.
