In the Chui region of Chui Oblast, a food fair was held, organized by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan as part of the fight against high prices. At this event, local residents had the opportunity to purchase products directly from producers, which helps avoid markups associated with intermediaries. Thus, the price of onions was only 16 soms, potatoes were sold for 37 soms, and fresh meat could be bought starting at 680 soms per kilogram.
The fair will not be a one-time event: the ministry plans to hold similar events in every region of the country. In addition, stationary trading points are being opened in some settlements, which will offer meat at affordable prices. The mobile sites will operate until June, which will help stabilize the market during the spring period. The ministry assures that the stocks of essential products in the country are sufficient, and food security is under the control of the state.
