According to the EEC, the increase in time for border procedures is related to the planned control measures reported by the Kazakh side. These actions are temporary and aimed at improving order at the border, as well as combating the illegal turnover of goods, which poses a threat to Kazakhstan's national security.
Kazakhstan highly values its neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, considering it a strategic partner and ally. The authorities of the country hope for understanding and further cooperation to curb illegal activities that could negatively impact the economies of both countries and their international reputation. The EEC emphasized that mutual respect has always been the foundation of relations between the two states, and Kazakhstan's strategy will not change under the influence of current circumstances. "The fight against illegal transportation fully aligns with the interests of both countries. Partnership should be based on the legitimate actions of governments and authorized bodies, as smuggling undermines economic stability and integration processes," noted the commission representatives.
The EEC also highlighted the importance of combating the shadow turnover of goods within the EAEU. To enhance the legality of trade and reduce control from customs authorities, mechanisms such as navigation seals are being implemented, and work is underway to improve the procedures for controlling the customs value of goods.
