Kyrgyzstan is self-sufficient in 6 out of 9 food categories

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, by the end of 2025, the country's food security has significantly strengthened. According to the official report, the republic now fully meets its internal needs in six out of nine key food categories, including vegetables and melons, potatoes, milk, meat, sugar, and eggs.

However, in some segments, such as grain products, vegetable oil, and fruit and berry products, there remains a dependence on imports. At the same time, the ministry notes a steady decline in this dependence on external supplies.

Analysis of self-sufficiency indicators over the past six years shows positive dynamics:

The department notes that the most significant growth has been recorded in sugar production and fruit and berry crops, where the share of local production has increased more than threefold. Strengthening the agricultural sector and expanding the volume of domestic production contribute to the systematic achievement of complete food sovereignty for the country.
