According to information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Finance, the State Development Bank of Kyrgyzstan has signed an agreement to finance the construction of the Kulanak hydropower plant, located in the Naryn region. This project aims to reduce the electricity deficit in the country.

The launch of the hydropower plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts is expected soon. It is anticipated that the new station will produce about 435 million kilowatt-hours of energy annually, which will help reduce the electricity deficit by nearly 11%.

According to representatives of the ministry, the new hydropower plant will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's position in the regional energy market and provide new jobs for residents of the Naryn region.

Moreover, the launch of the Kulanak hydropower plant is expected to have a positive impact on the region's agriculture, as the area of irrigated land will increase. This will create favorable conditions for the development of the agricultural sector and improve the quality of life for the local population by ensuring stable access to irrigation water and developing infrastructure.
