Drones and digital logistics will become the new standard in the EAEU

At a meeting between Andrey Nikitin, head of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, and Arzybek Kozhoshev, member of the Collegium for Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC, key areas for the development of logistics within the Eurasian Economic Union until 2029 were discussed, as reported by the Russian embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

One significant outcome of the negotiations was the creation of a new "roadmap" for the period 2027–2029. This document will include ambitious goals, including the formation of a unified regulatory framework for unmanned technologies and the development of common standards for autonomous transport systems. This is expected to facilitate cargo transportation between the member states of the union and minimize the impact of the human factor on the transportation process.

Already implemented digital solutions were also discussed. Starting from February 11, an agreement on navigation seals will come into effect within the EAEU, allowing for real-time tracking of goods. The next phase plans to introduce electronic transport documents (e-CMR) and launch a pilot project for the digitalization of container transportation by rail, which will significantly speed up the border crossing process.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Andrey Nikitin expressed support for the initiative to invite representatives from observer countries to the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Transport Authorities of the EAEU. This step is aimed at strengthening transport links and integrating the union into the global logistics network.
