As a result, the cost of the minimum grocery basket has increased by 549 soms, reaching 7,888 soms.
We periodically visit the same supermarket to track price changes for a fixed set of products. Below is detailed information about which items are included in our basket and the reasons for the changes.
Prices may vary between supermarkets and markets; often, stores have items available at discounts.
Since the beginning of our monitoring, which started in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by 4,618 soms. Since the beginning of this year, it has risen by 1,165 soms, and compared to the same period in 2025, it has increased by 1,874 soms.
Currently, the most affordable product in our basket remains bread. Prices for fresh vegetables and fruits significantly impact the overall cost, as they are often the reason for price changes.

Throughout 2025, the cost of the grocery basket increased by 686 soms. The lowest price was recorded on October 18 — 5,791 soms, while the highest was on December 6, when it reached 6,927 soms.

The government of Kyrgyzstan established nutritional norms for citizens in 2009, according to which every resident of the country must consume 9 types of products monthly.
Among these norms are 9 kilograms of bread products, 5 kilograms of meat, 8.2 kilograms of potatoes, 9 kilograms of vegetables, 10 kilograms of fruits and berries, 2 kilograms of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 grams of fish, and 200 grams of tea.

Based on the minimum norms established by the state, we calculated the cost of the consumer basket for a family of four, using prices from one of the supermarkets in Bishkek. Recently, many city residents prefer large stores.
It should be noted that our calculations are approximate and are based solely on the approved state norms, which do not take into account the diversity in consumer preferences. For example, some people do not eat meat, while others may avoid sugar. Therefore, our basket should be viewed as a social experiment from 24.kg.
Bread products include both bread and pasta and cereals. Our family is typical, so among fruits, we prefer apples and bananas, and among vegetables, we choose onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. We select only the essentials without excess.
