Inflation and Prices
In its statement, the National Bank pointed out the need to consider the unstable external economic situation, which is characterized by a high level of uncertainty. The regulator noted that "the prospects for price dynamics depend on the stability of global supply chains and trade flows, which are subject to risks in the context of geopolitical tension and fragmentation of the global economy." In such conditions, a cautious approach to monetary policy is required to ensure price stability in the country.As of February 13, 2026, inflation was 1.8% with an annual rate of 9.6%. Prices, in general, are following the expected trajectory; however, there is heterogeneity in the dynamics of individual components of the consumer basket.
Economic Indicators and GDP
According to data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the economy of Kyrgyzstan is demonstrating strong growth. In January 2026, real GDP increased by 9%. Economic activity, as before, is noted in the services and construction sectors. A high level of investment in fixed assets contributes to the development of infrastructure projects. At the same time, the growth of real incomes of the population and the expansion of consumer lending support domestic demand, creating an additional inflationary effect.The National Bank also noted the stability of the domestic currency market, asserting that currency interventions are conducted only to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate.
According to the regulator's information, the banking sector remains resilient: the volume of deposits in 2025 increased by 46.2% to 865.9 billion soms, while the loan portfolio of commercial banks grew by 48.8%, reaching 507 billion soms.
