Approved plans for the development of crop production, horticulture, and cooperation for the coming years

Today, at a meeting held by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, strategic plans for the development of horticulture, crop production, and cooperation were approved. This was reported by Turat Idirisov, head of the Department of Crop Production, Horticulture, and Cooperation.

As noted by Turat Idirisov, the main focus in horticulture will be on providing farmers with quality and certified seedlings for fruit plants.

In the field of seed production, it is planned to increase the production of certified grain seeds to 37.1 thousand tons by 2028, which will exceed current figures by 30%. Two state nurseries will be established for scientific research.

The plant protection laboratories in Jalal-Abad and Balakchy will be completely updated and will begin operating in 2026. Additionally, the launch of the Central Toxicological Laboratory is planned for 2027.

As part of the development of cooperation, the provision of equipment to cooperatives continues. It is expected that around 2000 hectares will be processed in 2026-2027, leading to the creation of more than 120 new jobs.

“The implementation of technological innovations, such as smart greenhouses, drip irrigation and nutrition systems, robotics, vertical farms, as well as monitoring using drones and satellites, will increase yields by 25-35% and effectively utilize resources, including water and fertilizers,” the statement said.

It is also noted that the use of high-yield and drought-resistant varieties, including the global hybrids "DroughtGard," will enhance the resilience of the products.
