The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic has presented a strategy for modernizing the agricultural sector for 2026-2027. The main priority will be supporting farmers' associations and implementing innovative technologies, which will create over 120 jobs in rural areas.
As part of this state program, cooperatives will be provided with modern equipment, enabling the quality processing of about 2000 hectares of agricultural land. The agency emphasizes the rational use of resources, including maintaining soil fertility, reducing water consumption, and minimizing the use of chemicals. To achieve these goals, it is planned to actively utilize international experience and modern technologies.
One of the most promising directions is the implementation of automated greenhouses. Innovative climate control, ventilation, and heating systems combined with drip irrigation can increase yields by 25-35%, while significantly reducing water and fertilizer consumption. Farmers are also encouraged to switch to drought-resistant varieties, such as the DroughtGard hybrid corn, which ensures stable yields even in conditions of moisture deficiency.
The ministry is confident that sustainable agricultural development is only possible through a combination of cooperation and environmental responsibility. Support for farmers and the transition to high-tech production should become the foundation for increasing the competitiveness of Kyrgyz products in international markets.
