Income from ecotourism in reserves reached 37.7 million soms

In 2025, the protected areas of the country attracted over 271 thousand visitors

In 2025, the protected zones of Kyrgyzstan demonstrated outstanding results in terms of finances and operational activities. According to official reports, income from the tourism sector reached 37.7 million soms, which is more than double the level of the previous year — an increase of 19.3 million soms.

The total number of visitors to state reserves and parks amounted to 271,254 people, indicating an almost 24% increase in interest in ecotourism.

Domestic tourism remains the main source of tourist flow — over 250.5 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan visited natural areas. At the same time, there is a stable interest from travelers from CIS countries and abroad.

Experts emphasize that the significant increase in income with a relatively small growth in the number of tourists is related to the optimization of tariffs and the improvement of the payment collection system.

Furthermore, during the development of ecotourism, control over compliance with environmental legislation has been strengthened. Throughout the year, 139 violations were recorded, with total damage amounting to 1.1 million soms, about 70% of which is related to illegal impacts on flora.

According to the department's information, damages have already been compensated to the budget in 78 cases, while the remaining cases are under judicial and administrative review.
