In anticipation of Orozoi Ait and Nowruz, Kaktus.media conducted a study to find out how much it costs to prepare plov in different parts of the country and how its prices have changed over the year.
Price Changes Over the Year
During the analysis, only the basic ingredients for plov were considered: rice, beef, carrots, onions, and vegetable oil. The results showed that only one of these components—rice—has slightly decreased in price, while the other ingredients have significantly increased in cost. For the second consecutive year, the rise in meat prices is being discussed in the country. A comparison of the price per kilogram of beef in March of last year and this year showed an increase of almost 91 soms, which has led to an overall increase in the cost of a serving of plov.
Currently, the highest price for plov is recorded in Bishkek—125 soms per serving—while in the village of Semetey, its cost is only 94 soms. This is the only village where a serving costs less than 100 soms; in all other places, the price is higher.

Price Comparison of Plov in Central Asia
We also decided to find out the cost of a serving of plov among neighboring countries. For this, data from National Statistical Committees and open sources on the prices of rice, beef, carrots, onions, and vegetable oil in Tashkent, Almaty, and Dushanbe were used.
