As a result, the minimum cost of the grocery basket has decreased by 162 soms and now amounts to 7 thousand 774 soms.
To track price changes, we regularly visit the same supermarket, recording the cost of the same set of products. Below is complete information on which products are included in our basket and why.
Prices may vary depending on the supermarket and market, where promotional items can often be found at lower prices.
Analysis shows that since the beginning of our study in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by 4 thousand 504 soms. Since the beginning of this year, it has risen by 1 thousand 51 soms, and compared to the same period in 2025, it has increased by 1 thousand 712 soms.
Currently, the most affordable product in our basket is bread. Prices for fresh vegetables and fruits significantly affect the overall cost of the basket, which explains its fluctuations.

During 2025, the grocery basket increased in price by 686 soms. Its minimum cost was recorded on October 18 at 5 thousand 791 soms, while the maximum was on December 6, amounting to 6 thousand 927 soms.

Consumption norms for residents of Kyrgyzstan were approved by the government back in 2009. According to the document, every citizen is required to consume nine types of products monthly.
The established norm includes: 9 kilograms of bread, 5 kilograms of meat, 8.2 kilograms of potatoes, 9 kilograms of vegetables, 10 kilograms of fruits and berries, 2 kilograms of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, and 100 grams of fish and fish products, as well as 200 grams of tea.

Based on the minimum norm established by the state, we calculated the cost of the consumer basket for a family of four, based on prices in one of the supermarkets in Bishkek. Recently, many residents prefer to shop in large stores.
It should be noted that the consumption data is approximate and based on approved state norms. Considering different dietary preferences, not all families eat the same. Some do not consume meat, while others avoid sugar, so our basket should not be perceived as a universal truth. It is more of a social experiment by 24.kg.
The bread products include both bread and pasta and cereals. Our family is typical, so among fruits, we prefer apples and bananas, and among vegetables – onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. We try to limit ourselves to only necessary products.
