On March 24, Deputy Prime Minister Erlis Akunbekov held a meeting dedicated to the petition for the implementation of a railway project connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the main project documents have already been prepared, and work is currently ongoing to refine the drawings and coordinate with the relevant departments. Large-scale work is being carried out at the construction sites, involving over 5,000 workers and more than 5,600 units of equipment.

At the moment, more than 3.5 million cubic meters of earthworks have been completed.

The working meeting also included representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as the national company "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu" and the railway company "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan".

During the construction, special attention is being paid to tunnel construction, earthworks, and bridge construction.

Erlis Akunbekov emphasized the importance of adhering to safety standards and environmental regulations. The Cabinet of Ministers guaranteed support and the necessary conditions for the successful implementation of the project.

The China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region, aimed at creating a new transport corridor between the East and the West.

This railway line will connect the networks of the PRC, KR, and RUz, providing access to Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. For Kyrgyzstan, this project has strategic significance as it will diversify transport routes and enhance the country's transit potential.

The length of the railway will be approximately 450-500 kilometers, a significant portion of which will pass through Kyrgyzstan. Due to the challenging mountainous conditions, the construction of numerous tunnels and bridges is planned, making the project technically complex and requiring significant financial investments.

The total cost of construction is estimated at around $4.7 billion.

Funding will come from two main sources. The PRC will provide about $2.3 billion in the form of a long-term loan. A comparable amount will be directed to the authorized capital of the joint project company, with shares distributed as follows: 51% for China, 24.5% for Kyrgyzstan, and 24.5% for Uzbekistan.

Kyrgyzstan's share in the project is approximately $700 million, including capital investments and related expenses.
