The active construction of a road connecting the village of Barskoon with the Bedel border crossing is underway in Kyrgyzstan. Survey work has been completed, and the design is nearing its conclusion.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the approvals with state authorities are currently in the final stage. The contractor has already organized the delivery of the necessary equipment, built a concrete plant, and assembled a working team.

Currently, work is being carried out on two tunnels included in the project. In the first tunnel, 49 specialists are working, and 55 units of equipment are being used, with a tunneling progress of 15 meters. In the second tunnel, 13.2 meters of the main tunnel and 12 meters of the parallel adit have been completed.

The length of the new road will be about 150 kilometers, connecting the southern shore of Issyk-Kul with the border of Kyrgyzstan and China.

The project includes the construction of two tunnels, more than 30 bridges, including two overpasses, as well as protective engineering structures. The implementation period for this project is about five years.

The Barskoon - Bedel Road is one of the key infrastructure projects for Kyrgyzstan. It will create an alternative route to the border with China and help relieve the existing border crossings of Torugart and Irkeshtam.

The route passes through the high mountainous areas of the Issyk-Kul region, which necessitates the construction of tunnels, bridges, and other protective structures. The project aims to develop the country's transit potential, accelerate cargo transportation, and strengthen trade and economic ties with the PRC.
