
Kyrgyzstan launches a project for the construction of a 500 kV power line
On March 31 of this year, a bill concerning the construction of a 500 kV overhead power line connecting the substations "Kemin" and "Balakchy" was approved in the first reading. This decision was made by the committee on industrial policy, transport, fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Deputy Minister of Energy Nasipbek Kerimov emphasized the importance of this project for enhancing the reliability of the national energy system. He also pointed out the need to develop transit potential, reduce the load on existing 220 kV lines, and ensure the connection of new solar and wind energy facilities in the Issyk-Kul region. The total investment in the project amounts to 67.7 million euros, including a loan of 61.7 million euros, a grant of 3.0 million euros, and 3.0 million euros for technical assistance. The loan term is 20 years with a five-year grace period.
Additionally, the committee adopted the bill "On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic on Electric Power Industry" in the third reading.
