This year, the Kyrgyz police are celebrating a significant date — the 101st anniversary of their founding. Among those who have dedicated their lives to serving the law and protecting the homeland is Kudaibergen Choroев, a retired police major, a veteran of the internal affairs bodies, and a worker on the home front during the Great Patriotic War.

Kudaibergen Choroев was born in 1928 in the village of Kok-Oy, located in the Talas region. During the Great Patriotic War, he distinguished himself as a hardworking and selfless worker on the home front, which was characteristic of his generation that endured the horrors of war.

After the war ended in 1947, Kudaibergen served in the army in Moscow and was then sent to the Sverdlovsk region, where he headed a group responsible for escorting prisoners who had returned from the war. After demobilization, he continued his career in the internal affairs system, where he worked for nearly three decades.

For 19 years, Choroев headed a department specializing in combating the theft of socialist property and speculation in the Talas region, which contributed to strengthening law and order and developing the police in this area. In 1978, he retired with the rank of police major.

Despite being 97 years old, the veteran remains active and vigorous. According to his relatives, he even sometimes gets behind the wheel of a car.

Turmush previously reported that Kudaibergen Choroев was born in 1928 in the village of Kok-Oy and dedicated 31 years to service in the internal affairs bodies. He retired with the rank of police captain.

Four of his sons chose their father's path and work in law enforcement.

From 1963 to 1980, he worked in the department combating thefts in the Talas region, serving as acting deputy head of the district police for 8 months before retiring. After 1980 and until 1991, he worked as a manager in a local state farm. Together with his wife, they raised 10 children — seven sons and three daughters.

In October 2020, Choroев shared memories of how his father was engaged in animal husbandry and how he himself decided to continue this work.

Throughout his life, Kudaibergen regularly consumes kumis and has a farm in the mountains, where he goes to relax in the fresh air. Every day, he starts with morning exercises.

He adheres to a calorie-rich diet, including horse meat and fatty meat. During preventive treatment in the hospital, doctors advise him to reduce his intake of fatty foods and to give up "chuchuk," but Choroев himself claims that he loses strength without these products. He has good eyesight, drives his own car, and enjoys trips to the mountains, drawing additional energy from his grandchildren. He is proud of his children and describes his old age as happy.

In May 2019, Kudaibergen Choroев recalled how, while working in the department combating thefts, they detained 11 members of the Communist Party in the village of Taldy-Bulak, who were suspected of corruption.

These individuals were involved in falsifying documents, claiming that they had built a barn and acquired cattle, while in reality, none of this existed. At that time, party members were considered exemplary citizens.
