Kazakhstan expands the list of socially significant food products to 33 items

On the platform "Open NPA," the Ministry of Trade and Integration presented a draft new order, which proposes to increase the number of socially significant food products from 19 to 33 items.

Among the new products that may be included in the updated list are tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, various types of beef, minced meat, lamb, fresh and frozen fish, ultra-pasteurized milk, sour cream, hard cheese, and black tea, as reported by Exclusive.kz.

Ministry representatives noted that each new item will be discussed with representatives of the business community, the Chamber of Entrepreneurs, and other government agencies. The main goal of expanding the list is to improve the availability of the most popular products for citizens and maintain their price stability. This measure will be temporary.
The agency emphasized that expanding the list of socially significant food products will contribute to more transparent pricing and the elimination of inefficient intermediaries who may impose high markups. For producers, inclusion in the list will serve as an incentive to increase production volumes and expand production capacities.

Additionally, producers and importers of goods from the new list will be exempt from the need to pay rewards and retro bonuses to retail chains. This will help reduce the final cost of goods for consumers and allow companies to redirect the freed-up funds towards business development. Such producers will also be able to take advantage of state support measures, including preferential transportation, fixed utility tariffs, and subsidized working capital.

The discussion of the proposed order will last until December 19.
