The foreign economic activity of Kyrgyzstan will be regulated by new decisions of the Eurasian Economic Commission, as reported by the State Customs Service.

According to the decision of the EEC Council dated December 5, 2025, which comes into effect on January 22, 2026, electric vehicles will be imported into Kyrgyzstan without paying import customs duties.

This measure applies to "pure electric vehicles" (code 8703 80 000 3 of the EAEU Customs Nomenclature) and "plug-in hybrids" (code 8703 80 000 5 of the EAEU Customs Nomenclature).

Starting January 22, changes to the EAEU Customs Nomenclature concerning a number of vehicles will also come into effect, in accordance with the EEC Council Decision No. 110 dated December 23, 2025, and the EEC Board Decision No. 81 dated September 23, 2025.

It is important to note that the tariff exemption and quotas for the import of electric vehicles will only take effect from January 22, 2026, and not from January 1, 2026, as it may seem.

The State Customs Service recommends that all participants in foreign economic activity take these changes into account when planning the import of electric vehicles.
