- In Batken, there are the Katranbashi and Karangli deposits, which contain nepheline syenites that serve as raw materials for the aluminum industry. As reported by Tazabek, Minister of Natural Resources Meder Mashiev stated that currently, the development of these deposits is not economically viable due to the current prices of aluminum.

“Considering global prices, major producers are not interested in developing these deposits for now. However, we continue to negotiate. I recently visited Dushanbe, where the largest aluminum plant is currently operating, which has been purchasing raw materials from other countries since the Soviet era. They are interested in jointly developing our resources,” he noted.

Additionally, Mashiev emphasized that the study of the deposits continues, and in the future, their explored reserves may significantly increase.
