The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic has refuted claims that citizens of Kazakhstan were not informed about the new rules regarding their stay in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agency's information, prior to the changes coming into effect, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security, and the Ministry of Digital Development conducted an informational and explanatory campaign using official internet resources, social media, and mass media. It is reported that information about the new rules began to be published from spring to summer 2025 and continues to be disseminated to this day.

In particular, on December 4, 2025, an on-site briefing by the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security was held at the "Ak-Jol - Road" checkpoint, where representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Department of Population Registration were present. Relevant press releases were also sent to the media in Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, on January 13, 2026, the rules for the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan were explained on the air of "Birinchi Radio." The agency noted that information for reference is posted at all border crossing points along the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, video materials are broadcast in passport control halls, and Border Service employees inform citizens of Kazakhstan about the terms and conditions of their stay.

The Border Service also emphasized that individuals traveling abroad bear personal responsibility for complying with the immigration legislation of the destination country.

Additionally, the agency highlighted that these measures are a response to the restrictions imposed in Kazakhstan on September 1 regarding citizens of Kyrgyzstan and are aimed at ensuring the principle of reciprocity and international norms.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva appealed to government agencies to pay attention to the problems faced by some citizens of Kazakhstan due to the new rules for staying in Kyrgyzstan. She spoke about the case of a citizen of Kazakhstan, a teacher working in Bishkek, who, after a trip to Almaty, was unable to return to Kyrgyzstan and risks losing her job.
