The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic explained the new U.S. visa requirements for citizens of Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reports the introduction of new requirements for citizens wishing to obtain non-immigrant visas of categories B-1/B-2 (for tourism and business trips) to the United States of America. These changes will take effect on January 21, 2026.

According to information provided by the U.S. Department of State, citizens of a number of countries, including Kyrgyzstan, will be required to pay a financial deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. The specific amount of the deposit will be determined by the consular officer during the interview.

Additionally, to submit an application, it is necessary to provide form I-352 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, but only upon the request of the consular officer. The applicant must also confirm their agreement to the terms of the deposit through the online platform of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Pay.gov.

It is important to note the following:

- the deposit does not guarantee the issuance of a visa;

- in case of a change in immigration status or violation of the permitted stay period, the deposit is non-refundable;

- this rule applies only to new applications submitted after the changes take effect.

Citizens who have received a visa with a financial deposit may enter and exit the U.S. only through the following airports:

- Logan International Airport in Boston (BOS);

- John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York (JFK);

- Dulles International Airport in Washington (IAD).

Failure to comply with these conditions may result in denial of entry or issues with exiting the U.S.

Additionally, the decision to include certain countries in this list is related to the high level of visa regime violations by their citizens.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic strongly recommends that everyone planning trips to the U.S. familiarize themselves with the new visa requirements in advance and strictly adhere to the rules for obtaining visas and staying in the country to avoid violations of local legislation.
