The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic has refuted opinions that citizens of Kazakhstan were not informed about the new rules for staying in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agency, prior to the implementation of the changes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security, and the Ministry of Digital Development conducted work to inform through government internet resources, social networks, and mass media. According to the Border Service, information about the new rules has been officially published since the spring and summer of 2025 and continues to be disseminated currently.

In particular, on December 4, 2025, an on-site press conference was organized for media representatives at the "Ak-Zhol - Automobile" checkpoint, which was attended by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Department of Population Registration. Additionally, the agency noted that relevant press releases were sent to the mass media in Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, on January 13, 2026, the new rules for staying were explained on the air of "Birinchi Radio." The Border Service added that informational materials are placed at all border crossing points with Kazakhstan, video materials are shown in passport control halls, and Border Service employees inform citizens of Kazakhstan about the terms and conditions of their stay.

The agency also emphasized that individuals traveling abroad bear personal responsibility for complying with the migration legislation of the country they are heading to.

Moreover, the Border Service reminded that these measures are reciprocal concerning the restrictions that have been in effect in Kazakhstan since September 1 for citizens of Kyrgyzstan, and are aimed at upholding the principle of reciprocity and international practice.

Earlier, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva, during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, appealed to government agencies to pay attention to the problems faced by some citizens of Kazakhstan due to the new rules for staying in Kyrgyzstan. She noted that a teacher from Kazakhstan, working in Bishkek, contacted her, stating that she cannot return to Kyrgyzstan after a trip to Almaty and risks losing her job.
